Female robot to reproduce the language of gestures

Toshiba is the exhibition CEATEC JAPAN 2014, which takes place in Japan from 7 to 11 October, showed a female android with a high degree of similarity with humans. The robot is designed as a young woman who blinks his eyes, leads pupils and smiling. However, the main purpose of android - the ability to reproduce the language gestures for understanding deaf people. According to the company, the use of androids as an intermediary in dealing with people with disabilities, can be much more effective, than to keep the service technician. The model was named Aiko Chiharu.

Development is conducted in cooperation with aLab, Osaka University, Institute of Technology and the Institute of Technology Sibaura Sean. At the moment, the algorithms that control the forty-three actuators, and emulate a high degree of imitation of human movement. In the future, the company plans to implement a wide range of proprietary technologies, including the sensitivity, speech synthesis, speech recognition and gesture control of the robot.

The aim is to create a service robot, which will help people in health care, in a variety of charitable and promotional initiatives, as well as in the service sector.
